Take your parent to PE day

We were thrilled to see parents participate in our Take your Parent to PE day. This gave parents an opportunity to be active with their child, but also let parents see a glimpse of a typical physical education lesson.

I heard several parents say "This is very different from my PE experience as a child". Many parents remembered boring calisthenics, games of dodgeball, and free play and were shocked to see learning targets and 'I can' statements. They realized that there is really some education in physical education with our students learning what it means and how to be physically literate

Our program is built upon best practices with a standards-based curriculum. Assessment is part of our program through self assessment, peer assessment, and teacher assessment. We know that maximum participation is necessary for student growth and every child has equipment in hand.

Thanks to those that participated....and if you were unable to attend, please be on the lookout in the Spring. We play to host another day so that parents can join in the fun.
